In addition to the main towns of Lewes, Newhaven (including Denton & Heighton) and Seaford (including Bishopstone, Blatchington Street, Chyngton & East Blatchington), the area covered by the directory includes Firle, Glynde, Hamsey, Iford, Kingston (with Kingstonbridge), Offham, Piddinghoe, Ringmer, Rodmell and Southease.

This was a difficult book to scan because the printing on some of the pages is skewed and some have very little margin at the centre binding. The result is that a number of scans contain the edges of adjacent pages and/or appear not to be straight. As the alternative was to destroy a rare book this was felt to be the lesser of two evils.
