Product Description
This book is a reprint of the 1787 Roger's directory of Sheffield. It was reprinted in 1889 as a way of looking back over the previous hundred years! The book has a 15 pages introduction penned by Sidney Oldall Addy, a local historian and folklorist who has been compared to the Brothers Grimm. In the late nineteenth century he toured Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire looking for folk tales that had been passed on by word of mouth.
The digital copy of this directory contains 100 directory pages as well as the 15 page introduction. The directory lists trade people and thier trade. Not surprisingly there are many varied trades making use of steel, ranging from button makers to table knives manufacturers.
