Product Description
The download for the edition of Ward's Directory for 1889 contains the Almanac pages and the directories for North Shields, South Shields, Jarrow, Sunderland, Newcastle and Gateshead. The indexes to the various sections and to the advertisements are included.
The original maps for Newcastle, Gateshead, North Shields, South Shields and Sunderland were printed on folded card which has resulted in some damage along the folds (especially the Newcastle map) and ridging to some pages which shows up as a shadow on the scans.
A number of the scanned pages appear not to be straight. This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process.
The contents include maps of: North Shields, South Shields, Sunderland, Newcastle and Gateshead.
Also covered are the villages of: Bell's Close, Benwell, Bill Quay, Blaydon, Boldon, Carr's Hill, Chirton, Cleadon, Cullercoats, Dunston, Felling, Friar's Goose, Fulwell, Gateshead Fell (Sherriff Hill), Gosforth, Grangetown, Harton, Hebburn, Hedworth, Heworth, Howdon, Hylton, Lemington, Low Fell, Monkseaton, Monkton, Newburn, Percy Main, Pelaw Main, Preston, Ryhope, Scotswood, Seaham, Silksworth, Southwick, St. Anthony's, St. Peter's, Swalwell, Team, Tunstall, Tynemouth, Walker, Wallsend & Carville, Westoe, Whitburn, Whitley, Willington, Windy Nook, Winlaton.
